Contact information such as your email address is stored once signed up. This is used to facilitate communication regarding listed items, notifications if you have been chosen to receive items, reminders such as unread messages on the site, and other account-related information such as password reset requests. Storing your name and address is entirely optional and is used to automatically send your address details to the chosen recipients of your items if you have chosen to on the contact details page. Your full name will also be used in place of your username in all email communication, if provided.
Location information such as your latitude and longitude coordinates, town/city and country are all entirely optional. If provided, your coordinates will solely be used to provide more accurate distances when viewing listed items, or to give other users an indication of how far they will have to travel to collect any items that you list. It can also be used to show item listers the towns/cities of users who have shown an interest in their items.
Your IP address is stored each time there is a new log in to your account. This is for the sole purpose that you have a record of any unusual account activity. This can be seen on the activity log page. Your IP address may also be used to determine your location so that items can be displayed in your area. However, this information is not stored or recorded (except as a temporary cookie on your local device - see below), and is only used in the event that your location information hasn't been explicitly given.

Your login data is optionally saved (this can be turned off by unticking the 'Keep me signed in' box on the login screen) for up to 28 days. If enabled, this means you won't have to log back in to the site every time your session expires when the browser closes.
